I am new to the sport. And Im replacing a PSE Polar express. Ive looked at a 2 year old top of the line Hoyt and a 3 year old top of the line Mathews.
Both are used from a local shop. My PSE that I received free is 20 years old.
And needs cam replacement. Decided to say screw it and buy a modern rig.

A two or three year old bow should be able to be had for around 150 or less I should think.

Heck....I know where you can get a new (2009) Bear Truth II for only $350 right now. Thats the bow I shoot and I love it.

Here's a good deal for you. The Bear Truth II is a very good shooting bow and this one has some top quality accessories.

you can't go wrong with either bow you mentioned, there are alot of good bows being made these days. shoot them enough to get a good feel for them and shoot them side by side and try to notice how they feel in your hand.
make sure the draw length is correct for you, that is critical to accurate and consistant shooting.
try not to get too impressed how fast they shoot, you were shooting an older bow and they will seem like lighting compared to your old bow. and the pro shops will have the bows set to around 70 lbs and let you shoot light weight carbon arrows. Again they will seem very fast, just concentrate on how they feel in your hand and react after the shot. the speed you get will vary depending on your individual setup.

That's because it was owned by the talented and world renown Pat! If it was mine....I'd have to give somebody money to take it! LOL

Ok so I decided with the Hoyt Katera. Got it Saturday and dialed it in yesterday. Hot damn is it fast. Blew the kisser off the string.
Draw is as smooth as silk. Got till season opener to get good. And practicing indoor and 3D should do me good.
